REVIEW: NARS Jolie Pouppe Eye Shadow Duo ($34.00)

NARS Duo on Jolie Pouppe ($34.00) from www.narscosmetics.com
I decided to delve into a possible orgin in the name of this duo I discovered that Jolie Pouppe was a french tv show from the 1960's who launched the career of French singer Sylvie Vartan below in the clip and later a song in the 1980's by Bernard Menez.  You can definitely see the inspiration in the coloring from below....I mean just look at her makeup...close your eyes.......you know you can see her wearing this and singing a song in the 60's now...lol

I found Jolie Pouppe to be perfect as far as the shimmering purple side. It is bright and vibrant as I love my purple hues.  It spreads on amazing and smooth.  The matte side leaned slightly blue but I just didn't find it a flattering color for my skin tone and it was very chalky-as I find with most mattes they do require a bit more brush work to get an even non patchy finish.  Maybe if this matte color was placed along side a more neutral color then both colors in the duo would have worked-and I'm not saying you can't mix and match them as I seem to do with my NARS duos ALL THE TIME! I rate this duo 3 out of 5 stars because I just didn't enjoy the texture of the matte color. If you have let's say NARS Caravaggio or Bysance Duos you could definitely skip out on this one as the bright purples are similar.

VIDEO REVIEW: MAC Blunt Blush (Matte) $20.00 www.maccosmetics.com

MAC Blunt Blush (Matte) $20.00

MAC's Blunt Blush is definitely my go to when I do highlighting as I was not one of those blessed with daring natural contour on the face and angles, maybe if I lost a sick amount of weight it would show..lol. So for those like me MAC created this blush to give the illusion of this effect. MAC describes it as a muted golden brown. I use the MAC 168 Large Angled Contour brush for such applications with the top of the angle brush upside down and suck in my chubby cheeks to show the proper placement of the blush and softly dust to create a soft shadow. Nicholas @ MAC in Grand Central Station in NYC 1st showed me this like 3 years ago.  I was never religious in contouring at that time but I was slimmer and trimmer then. This Blush is very well pigmented and super soft to the touch of the brush and gets the job done and makes the illusions of cheek bones possible..I love it! I rate this 5 out of 5 stars!

REVIEW: NARS Duo in Nouveau Monde ($34.00)

NARS Duo in Nouveau Monde ($34.00)
I purchased the Nouveau Monde duo from www.narscosmetics.com and I remember swatching it a few times over and over at Sephora until I had a break down and got it. It is described as a metallic silver lilac and a rich olive gold and in the following at narscosmetics.com:

"Modern, unique, sometimes unexpected color combinations of eyeshadow shades. Worn alone or together, all Duo Eyeshadow shades feature micro-fine powders that are highly pigmented, longwearing and crease resistant. Color glides on smoothly, evenly and blends effortlessly. The effects can be subtle or smoldering -- the options are endless.
  • “Best Overall Eyeshadow” 2011 InStyle “Best Beauty Buys”
  • True color application
  • Can be applied dry or with a dampened brush for stronger intensity.
  • Multifunction use for shading, lining and highlighting the eyes.
  • Classic, neutral, and fashion-forward shade pairings."
Nouveau Monde in French means New World in English. I can see the inspiration because to me I can see this shadow combinations in a futuristic new world with it's metallic sheen in a world like the Jetson's where even the robots wear makeup. I love these colors together on the eye even though both metallic I find that they just work beautifully blending together harmoniously and each are soft in color as can be worn alone.  The pigmentation is perfect! The blend-ability and texture is Butter! What more could you want! I rated this shadow duo in Nouveau Monde 5 out of 5 stars.

VIDEO REVIEW: OCC-Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar in NYLON ($15.00)

VIDEO REVIEW: OCC NYLON LIP TAR ($15.00)

This one I got without knowing what nor how it would appear on me.  I knew I like MAC Candy Yum Yum which appeared to be a dupe for it.  This Lip Tar is exclusive to Sephora.com. The site describes Nylon as a classic bubblegum pink with a neon twist.  Which I think nails it!.
Sephora.com describes Lip Tar  in the following:
"What it is:
A high-opacity lipstick concentrate with unprecedented longevity.

What it does:
Flash a fabulous smile and a stunning splash of color with this lip formula that combines the longevity of a lipstick with the breezy application of a gloss. The rich pigment will drench your pout and the blend of essential oils, including hemp and peppermint, will soothe and soften the skin for a supremely comfortable finish.

What it is formulated WITHOUT:
- Parabens

What else you need to know:
This straight-forward formula does not contain petroleum or silicone and is 100 percent vegan and cruelty-free."

The product does not come in any box nor with an application  as they are not with any excces packaging.
I had a positive experience with this lip tar, it is long lasting and super shiny even though I added more gloss on top, to like seal it or something.  It doesn't leave my lips stained when I went to remove it as the infamous Candy Yum Yum from MAC..lol..I like this brand and I like the product and look forward to trying more of them you can check out more at the company's direct webpage: http://www.occmakeup.com/lips.html.
I recommend it if Nylon isn't your color I'm sure you will find a suitable color on their site to try.

NAILS: Neon New Age French Manicure..using China Glaze

This was a super fun and new nail look for me.  I decided to do a french with a big bright neon twist.  I used China Glaze Celtic Sun and Quirius (Q.R.S.) in Pink Passion #327.

To start I put on a base of NailTek as I usually do, let it dry for a bit, then I proceeded by layering down the China Glaze Celtic Sun, I put on 3 light coats as it has a jelly like finish.  Once that was dry I used the Q.R.S to do the french tip and then a top coat.  It was that simple, I always find the french nail to be classic and timeless, but this one is the new french manicure to satisfy our want for bright colors.  People will definitely doing double takes at your nails wearing this look..
I found Q.R.S. at my local beauty supply and the China Glaze from 8ty8beauty.com.

Thank you for looking and reading and if curious, the backdrop is Niagara Falls and it was an amazing site to see!!
